Carolyn Wilkes Kaas is the director of the clinical programs, co-director of the Center on Dispute Resolution and its Project for Children and the Family, and director of the Family & Juvenile Law Concentration. For twenty years, she has taught in the Civil Clinic, handling predominantly family law cases at the trial and appellate levels. She now teaches in the externship program. She is the lead professor for Introduction to Representing Clients, the clinical pre-requisite course in interviewing, counseling, and negotiation, and has taught Negotiation as well. Professor Kaas is particularly interested in family law and dispute resolution. She co-teaches Divorce and the Divorcing Family with a mental health professional, and has served as a mediator in family and child protection cases in Connecticut. Before joining the Quinnipiac faculty in 1989, she served as a clerk for the Honorable Ellen Bree Burns in the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut, and then as a litigation associate at Wiggin & Dana for four years. Her spouse, Glenn, is a state prosecutor. They have three children, one of whom graduated from the Law School with the Class of 2009.
