Established in 1998, the Center on Dispute Resolution focuses on integrating the theory and practice of dispute resolution.

A significant portion of the activities of the Center on Dispute Resolution focuses on issues involving children and families. The center offers programs designed to improve the practice of family and juvenile law by developing innovative courses and workshops and by promoting family law advocacy and other law reform efforts.

The center hosts gatherings for those interested in law reform and in the advancement of interdisciplinary and nonadversarial approaches to helping families resolve their personal and painful crises in a manner that is in the best interests of their children.

It also operates the Peer Mediation Support Project, which works with Quinnipiac's student-run Dispute Resolution Society to assist schools in the greater New Haven area with their peer mediation programs.

And in collaboration with the Dispute Resolution Society, the center has hosted the Representation in Mediation Competition, a regional tournament for the ABA-sponsored Representation in Mediation Competition.
