The Dean’s Fellows awards are full-tuition scholarships and the Faculty Fellows awards are $30,000 scholarships. Both scholarships recognize applicants who possess a record of extraordinary scholarly achievement and leadership, have a demonstrated commitment to community through volunteerism, public service or civic activities, and show strong potential to be leaders during and after law school. These awards may be renewed annually if the student’s class rank at the law school is in the top half of the class each year.
Full-time applicants enrolling as first-year students are eligible. Of the 15 scholarships to be awarded, two will be designated for students who plan to pursue the Health Law Concentration, two for those interested in the Civil Advocacy and Dispute Resolution Concentration, and the remaining scholarships will be for those planning to be generalists or specialists in areas other than the two specified.
Academic Requirements and Guidelines:
Potential candidates for these prestigious awards typically meet the following academic requirements:
- Undergraduate cumulative GPA 3.5
- LSAT score 160
Application Deadline and Additional Requirements:
The application deadline for Dean's Fellows and Faculty Fellows candidates is January 15. Potential candidates are required to address in their personal statement or an addendum why they should be considered for one of these awards. For example, the selection committee is interested in learning about a candidate's leadership experience, community involvement or volunteerism, commitment to public service, scholarly pursuits and why he/she wishes to pursue a legal education.
Campus Interviews and Program
Finalists for Dean’s Fellows and Faculty Fellows will be invited to the Quinnipiac campus April 4 - 5, 2009 for selection interviews and a special program designed to introduce them to our academic offerings and facilities and to meet with faculty, students and deans. Travel and lodging expenses will be paid by Quinnipiac University School of Law. To be eligible for a Dean’s Fellows or Faculty Fellows award, finalists must attend this program.
Other Benefits
In addition to receiving a monetary award, Dean's Fellows and Faculty Fellows awards also include the following:
- An educational stipend ($1,500)
- Opportunities for work as a Faculty Research Assistant (if desired)
- Networking opportunities with Dean's Council members (select judges/attorneys) or other attorneys with leading law firms in the region
- "Dine with the Dean" once per semester
