The Society for Dispute Resolution is a student organization that promotes the field of alternative dispute resolution by offering its members opportunities to meet practicing lawyers, participate in competitions against other schools and develop ADR skills to supplement their in-class experience.
Past events and activities:
- Hosted the American Bar Association Regional Client Counseling Competition at the School of Law Center on Feb. 9-10
- Hosted an intramural competition in mediation, negotiation and client counseling on Jan. 19-20. School of Law competed for spots on the newly formed Dispute Resolution Competition Team
- Competed in the ABA Regional Negotiation Competition held in Boston in November 2007, in which three teams from the society participated
- Participated in a walk to benefit multiple sclerosis in May 2007
- Hosted the ABA Regional Mediation Competition in March 2007, in which four teams from the society competed
- Sent one team to the ABA Regional Negotiation Competition in November 2006
- Hosted a panel discussion of lawyers from firms that focus on alternative dispute resolution in November 2006
